Amid Malaysians’ increasing interest in electrified vehicles, Jetour Auto Malaysia is geared to introduce its new plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Jetour T2 i-DM. Building on the strong reception of the ICE-powered T2 launched in March, the PHEV can be a great pick for those who seek new energy mobility solutions without compromising the versatility and rugged appeal that make the T2 stand out. 

The Jetour T2 i-DM is on display at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show, currently taking place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre from June 12 to 21, offering visitors and prospective customers an exclusive preview of the PHEV ahead of its official launch.

Also, bookings for the Jetour T2 i-DM are now underway in Malaysia, with an estimated price tag of RM 168,888.

Here are the 5 top things you need to know about the upcoming Jetour T2 i-DM.

Plug-in hybrid i-DM technology

The upcoming T2 model features Jetour’s advanced i-DM (intelligent dual-mode) technology. The setup comprises a 1.5-litre TGDI dedicated hybrid engine system with a high-output dual-motor electric drive configuration and a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission that delivers confident performance on both urban roads and rough terrains.

The SUV generates a combined output of 360 PS and 610 Nm and offers strong acceleration performance while maintaining efficiency across different driving conditions. For comparison, the pure ICE variant is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 245 PS and 375 Nm.

The PHEV setup switches seamlessly between power sources for continuous performance and self-charging battery efficiency, and promises an eco-friendly ride with lower fuel consumption and emissions.

Combined driving range of up to 1,200 km

Another important thing to note about the upcoming Jetour T2 i-DM is its combined driving range. The SUV utilises both the petrol engine and electric motor, paired with a 26.7 kWh battery pack and offers a combined range of up to 1,200 km, making it suitable for both city commuting and long-distance travel. 

As far as the all-electric range is concerned, the electrified T2 will let you travel up to 100 km in pure EV mode. 

The SUV incorporates revolutionary CTP (Cell-to-Pack) battery technology that provides faster charging capabilities, longer range, longer battery life, and improved safety. The battery supports both AC and DC charging, offering greater convenience and flexibility for users transitioning into electrified vehicles.

Retains its rugged SUV identity despite electrification 

While things under the hood are different, the T2 PHEV continues to carry the same rugged styling as the petrol-powered model. It features a boxy silhouette with strong character lines and sharp angles, underlining its rugged beauty. 

The front design looks aggressive with a wide horizontal grille, bold “JETOUR” letters, vertically stacked LED headlamps, and chunky bumper cladding. Adding to the robust look are underbody skid plates, squared-off wheel arches, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel at the back. As for the wheels, we can expect 20-inch alloy units wrapped with 255/55 tyres.

Built with off-road capability in mind

Despite adopting a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, the electrified T2 features the same off-road capabilities as the non-electrified version. It is expected to come with the fully automatic intelligent XWD system, which can intelligently identify different road conditions and adjust within milliseconds. 

The expected driving modes are Sport, Normal, Economy, Snow, Mud, and Rock, along with a crawling mode, which can intelligently control torque output to maintain a fixed low speed. 

Adding to its off-road performance is a 28° approach angle, a 30° departure angle, a minimum ground clearance of 220mm, and a wading depth of 700 mm. 

Located with advanced technology features 

Inside, the SUV is equipped with a 15.6-inch infotainment unit, an illuminated crystal gear knob, 6 SRS airbags, and a comprehensive suite of intelligent safety and comfort technologies, including ADAS Level 2 driver assistance and a panoramic view monitoring system. 

Other expected bits include - a 10.25-inch instrument panel, 12-speaker Sony sound system, wireless smartphone charging pad, powered front seats, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass sunroof and a powered tailgate.

Set to hit the local roads soon, the Jetour T2 i-DM seems to be a great choice for those who want a mix of electrified mobility and off-road adventure.
