Top auto news of the week: Lotus Emira, Yamaha Y16ZR World GP 60th Anniversary Edition launched, and more
The last week started with the Volvo XC40 price reveal and ended with the big news of the Lotus Emira launch. Between these, the local market observed a slow momentum. Contrary to that the International market enjoyed the reveal of new ICE-powered models and future EV concepts during the same span. Lotus Emira launched: Lotus Cars has made a return to Malaysia under the guidance of LOTUS KARZ Sdn Bhd and launched the all-new Emira. The supercar is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 supercharged mill churning out a maximum power output of 400 hp. The Lotus Emira price in Malaysia starts at RM 1,131,800 (on the road) with all taxes paid.
2022 Yamaha Y16ZR World GP 60th Anniversary version launched: Yamaha Malaysia has added a new World GP 60th Anniversary edition to the Y16ZR range. Priced at RM 11,688, the special model is decked up with the iconic red and white racing livery, gold-painted wheels, and a special World GP emblem. The quantity is limited to 5000 units.
Volvo XC40 Recharge price revealed: Last month, Volvo introduced its first electric car XC40 Recharge in Malaysia with keeping its price undercover. But, the suspense finally ended this week when we received the EV's price tag reading RM 262,460. The figure puts it right between the IONIQ 5 and EQA electric cars.
Honda Malaysia welcomes the new CEO: On April 1, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura officially took up the role of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia. He holds an extensive experience of 34 years at Honda.
Yamaha Y15ZR new colours: Last week, Yamaha introduced new colour options and graphics for its Y15ZR to make it more attractive for buyers. Included in the new shades are Cyan, Blue, Silver, and Green. Other than that, the moped’s features and specifications remain the same as earlier.
Mercedes-Benz dealership awards: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia hosted the ‘Dealer of The Year’ awards to appreciate and celebrate the brand’s most successful dealerships. It handed over a total of seven awards with Cycle & Carriage Johor Bahru dealership winning the most special award at the event. Check all the winners here.

International updates
2023 Honda HR-V broke cover: While we are waiting for the all-new third-generation HR-V launch in Malaysia, the automaker launched a completely different HR-V version in North America. The latest model gets different styling and dimensions as compared to the SUV available in the rest of the world.
Toyota Innova EV concept previewed: Toyota also showcased the Innova EV concept at the Indonesia International Motor Show this week. While the automaker remained numb on disclosing the EV's technical specs, it is expected to be a potent offering in terms of range and performance.
Tata Currv EV concept revealed: The Indian automaker Tata, which owns the luxury car brands Jaguar and Land Rover, unveiled the new Curvv EV concept. The car gets the brand’s new Gen2 platform and new “Less-Is-More” design philosophy. Set to unveil in the next two years, the EV will offer a certifiable range between 400 and 500 km.
2023 Hyundai Palisade teased: Hyundai is ready to roll out the updated Palisade on April 13, 2022, and before that, it teased the three-row SUV via a couple of dark images.
