Toyota Camry 2019 - Features explained

Doesn’t it look amazing! A perfect sedan, with perfect cut-out, appeal, enormous style, and premium-ness. Well, that’s just all about its exterior profile. On opening the gates, a whole new world of comfort and convenience greets the driver and passengers. Well, the 2019 Camry is a relatively new offering from Toyota that landed on our shores before the new Avanza MPV.

Giving you a bit of a heads-up, the all-new Camry was launched at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show. Covered in red paint, the car looked nothing short of a beautiful monster and as expected, instantly became the magnet of the show.

As can be suspected from the heading, in this article we will be talking about all the features (inside and outside) that make the Camry, the car it is. Also, with Camry price tag of RM 189,900, it is important to see what all the car has to offer. So, let’s unwrap its feature kit -

1.Platform

The platform of a car plays an integral part in the overall look and feel and many more things. The new Camry benefits from the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform with double wishbone rear suspension. Well, apparently the later part helps in smooth riding. What are the pros of using this particular platform? There are three advantages -

Stability - It provides optimal weight distribution and a lower centre of gravity, leading to responsive handling

Agility - The rear double wishbone suspension calls for the best manoeuvrability while maintaining peak control

Safety - World class features and a strong body ensures complete peace of mind

2. Stylish exterior with sharply designed features

The front profile of the car displays a robust and appealing look with the slim grille and large air vents that run across the width. The bi-LED projector headlamps provide dazzling brilliance to the car and get follow-me-home function and DRLs that automatically turns on to enhance visibility and safety. Assuring improved visibility are the automatic wipers that come into action as soon as they detect raindrops. Apart from the dramatic cuts and lines, the side profile gets 18-inch wheels that look not only brutal but also provide go-anywhere ability. Next up is the auto-retractable wing mirror with LED turn indicator, memory function, and reverse link. At the rear, are present wrap-around rear LED combination lamps that come with energy saving potential.

3. Luxurious interior

The cabin is loaded with impressive high-tech features like the 10-inch color HUD head-up display that varied information, from shift position to Toyota SafetySense warning alerts. On the dashboard sits an 8-inch DVD Capacitive touchscreen display that offers many premium features, including a 9-speaker JBL system, Clari-Fi technology, and more. For the driver, there is a smart entry and push start system, power-adjustable steering wheel with memory function, parallel axis electric power steering, and an impressive 7-inch color multi-information display that clearly gives all the needed information. The Camry specs sheet is loaded with convenient features like dual-zone air-con system with rear vents, wireless charger, power rear sunshade, three USB ports, and leather seats with driver memory function.

4. Power-packed mill

A Dual VVT-i engine supports the all-new Camry power needs. It comes along with an Acoustic Control Induction System that adjusts the car’s timing according to the speed, thus leading to enhanced mileage, better acceleration, and optimal power and torque. The 2-AR-FE 2.5-litre 4-cylinder, 16-VALVE DOHC with ACIS and Dual VVT-i engine churns out a maximum power of 184 PS at 6000 rpm along with a peak torque of 235 Nm at 4100 rpm. This engine is paired to a 6-speed automatic with Super ECT and sequential shifter that sends power to the wheels.

5. Impressive safety kit

Seeing its price range, the new Camry is expected to come along with a fully-loaded safety kit. The Toyota Safety Sense suite is the key ingredient of the sedans active safety system and includes Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Pre-collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Automatic High Beam. Besides, the Camry specs sheet also mentions gears like seven airbags (dual front, side, curtain, driver’s knee), hill start assist, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and front/rear parking sensors.
