Toyota GR Yaris gets new Aero Performance Package – Launching October 2025

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) has announced that it will introduce a new GR Yaris “Aero performance package” in Japan, with sales set to begin on October 1, 2025.

The package, developed with input from professional drivers through motorsport testing, will be available as a factory-installed option on the RZ “High performance” and RC variants of the GR Yaris.

The model fitted with this package is currently on display at Toyota’s public exhibition space in Midland Square, Nagoya. Further details about the showcase period are listed on Toyota’s official site.

What’s in the Aero Performance Package?

The package is made up of six components, all tested under racing conditions including the Super Taikyu Series and the Japanese Rally Championship. Toyota says the upgrades were fine-tuned to enhance both aerodynamics and cooling, tackling issues identified during competition.

Key components include:

Ducted aluminium hood – similar in shape to the carbon-fibre hood on the GRMN Yaris, this helps release engine heat for better cooling at speed.

Front lip spoiler – added after feedback from race driver Hiroaki Oshima, this reduces front lift to improve grip and aerodynamic balance.

Fender ducts – vents that release trapped air from the wheel arches, sharpening steering response during hard braking and corner entry.

Fuel tank undercover – inspired by flat-bottom safety fuel tanks used in Super Taikyu, this smoothens underbody airflow to cut drag.

Variable rear wing – an adjustable large rear wing that boosts stability at high speeds and can be fine-tuned for track use.

Rear bumper ducts – designed to counteract the “parachute effect” caused by trapped air behind the bumper, improving drag and stability.

The GR Yaris Aero performance package will be offered as a factory option, with prices (including consumption tax) set as follows:

 

The GR Yaris in Malaysia was updated for 2025 and is officially on sale. The facelifted model was launched in January 2025, continuing its role as Toyota’s flagship performance hatch.

The Malaysian-spec GR Yaris is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 300 PS and 400 Nm. Initially offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox, Toyota has since added the new 8-speed automatic (GR-DA) to the lineup.

Local pricing starts at RM315,600 for the manual version, while the automatic comes in slightly higher at RM325,600 (on-the-road without insurance). Two variants are available here, both featuring Toyota’s GR-Four all-wheel drive system and the same motorsport-inspired chassis tuning as the Japanese model.

The GR Yaris continues to be sold in limited numbers in Malaysia, maintaining its appeal among enthusiasts looking for a rally-bred hot hatch that’s usable both on the road and on track.
