UMW Toyota Motor tops 100,000 sales again in Malaysia, 102,417 units in 2025, Toyota Extend warranty plan launched

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite a relatively quite year as far as car launches is concerned, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) closed out 2025 with another six-figure sales year in Malaysia, posting 14,284 units in December and 102,417 units for the full year. That makes it the fourth consecutive year the company has cleared the 100,000-unit mark.

UMWT says the run is a first for a non-national brand here, positioning Toyota as the only non-national automotive brand in Malaysia to record over 100,000 vehicle sales for four straight years.

The company is framing the result as proof of sustained brand demand in a market that has gotten noisier, with more nameplates, more electrified options, and buyers who expect more than just a competitive monthly instalment.

The way Toyota tells it, the numbers are not tied to one trend or one hero model, but to repeat customers and broad, steady demand across its line-up, from first-time buyers to long-time Toyota households.

In other words, it is the boring stuff that keeps a brand strong, consistent ownership experience, service support, and products that do the job over years, not just on launch day.

On strategy, UMWT continues to push Toyota’s Multi-Pathway Approach, the idea that there is no single answer to electrification, especially in markets where infrastructure readiness and customer usage patterns can vary massively from one household to the next.

That approach, as described here, is about keeping a spread of options in the showroom, efficient petrol models, hybrids, and what it calls future-ready technologies, rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all shift.

UMWT also says it will keep building on 2025’s momentum by expanding its network, tightening service standards, and rolling out initiatives that match what customers now expect from ownership, not just from the car itself.

Toyota Extend Plan, warranty extended up to eight years

Alongside the sales update, UMWT also highlighted 2025's year-end ownership initiative, the Toyota Extend Plan, introduced on 1 December 2025.

The programme allows eligible customers to extend Toyota’s existing five-year warranty by up to three additional years, which can bring total coverage to up to eight years, depending on the model and the package selected.

UMWT says the plan is offered on selected Toyota models including the Vios, Corolla Cross, Yaris, and Corolla, with Basic and Premium coverage options.

Warranty claims under Toyota Extend can be processed at authorised Toyota Service Centres nationwide. UMWT also notes the coverage is transferable to the next owner, which is a practical detail for buyers who care about resale value and want something concrete they can pass on when the car changes hands.
