Volvo S90 T5 Momentum arrives in Malaysia, priced at RM 338,888

KUALA LUMPUR: When every other car manufacturer is coming up with new cars, how could Volvo lag? Say hello to the Volvo S90 T5 Momentum. Adding another fine chariot to its stable, the Swedish manufacturer has launched the luxury sedan at a price of RM 338,888.

The T5 Momentum model of the Volvo S90 is in the middle of the T8 Twin Engine Inscription and T8 Twin Engine Inscription Plus. One can also get a hybrid variant by shelling out RM 30,000 more.

Under the hood, the T5 Momentum model gets a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder Drive-E petrol-fed motor that that is capable of making 254 PS of max power and a peak torque of 350 Nm. An AW TG-81SC 8-speed automatic unit then delivers the power to the front wheels. Love thrills? But there ain’t no cheap ones here (pun intended). The S90 T5 Momentum can hit a top speed of 230 kmph. Give it some space and it will take you from 0-100 kmph in no more than 6.8 seconds.

The headlamps are all LED in the T5 Momentum, along with Volvo’s very own “Thor’s Hammer” DRLs. Also, present are Active High Beam and auto-levelling functions. The chrome accents which were on the Inscription models are nowhere to be seen on the Volvo S90 T5 Momentum. Chrome from the sides has also been taken off. Wrapped with 255/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres are 19-inch 5-triple spoke matte-tech-black diamond-cut alloy wheels. At the rear, the trapezoid exhaust outlets have also been replaced by a pair of circular units.

The gear is now wrapped in leather instead of an Orrefors crystal. Iron ore aluminium inlays are still present though. A diamond-cut roller control on the centre console which was used for changing drive modes has been omitted from the Volvo S90 T5 Momentum. A 12.3-inch adaptive digital display instrument cluster, Sensus Connect infotainment system with a 9-inch touchscreen panel, dual-zone climate control, comfy seats in black leather upholstery, powered driver and front passenger seats, a reverse camera, and second-row air-conditioning vents are part of the kit.

Adaptive cruise control, 7 airbags, City Safety equipped with Front Collision Warning and Pedestrian & Cyclist Detection with Full Auto Brake, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Departure Warning, Roll Stability Control and Hill Descent Control all make their way to the Volvo S90 T5 Momentum. Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system, Park Assist, and Park Assist Pilot are also present on the affordable trim of the S90.
