Perodua Myvi - Facts about the hatch that will blow your mind
Hatchback is a car segment that can never lose its charm, and when combined with factors like affordability and brand value, it becomes a deal that’s hard to miss. Sighting the hatch success path, Perodua recently revived its five-door compact car, Myvi. The third-generation Myvi hatchback made its debut on the Malaysian ground towards the end of 2017, thus making it a fresh pick of the season.
While, you can always judge a car by looking at its brochure, but it's only through analysis and research that you can know it up-close. The 2018 Myvi is a car packed with fascinating facts and revisions that we think will interest prospective buyers.
Here are some interesting facts about the all-new Perodua Myvi -
1. Efficient power generating aluminum block engines
Perodua has packed the new Myvi with two efficient mills that never featured in the hatch before. First, in line is a 1.3-litre Bezza borrowed engine that produces a maximum output of 95 PS. This mill like the entirely new 1.5-litre DUAL VVT-i engine to the Toyota family is lightweight, efficient, and adheres to the Euro 4 emission standards. What makes the deal attractive is the new 'Made in Malaysia' embossment. The engines are now locally manufactured at the Sendayan based Daihatsu Perodua Engine Plant.
2. Go-green with Eco-IDEAL
Perodua has now employed Myvi with EEV technology that elevates the performance and efficiency of both the 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre DUAL VVT-i engines. It also helps them deliver a smooth drive. In addition, the mills are now quieter, visible via low noise and vibration levels. But, that's not all, the power churners are mated with the new Eco-IDEAL tech. Introduced in Myvi for the first time, this system automatically stops the mill when the car is in an ideal position and restarts it as the driver releases the brake. This substantially reduces emission and fuel consumption.
3. Considerable dimension alteration
The all-new Myvi comes with a revised set of dimensions that improve not only its exterior aesthetics but also cabin spacing. The 2018 Myvi is now 20.5 cm longer, 3 cm lower, and 7 cm wider. In the cabin, there’s a 93.7 cm rise in the tandem distance (space between the rear and front passenger). Lastly, the booth also benefits from the revised dimension spec and now has a capacity of 277-litre, which is 69-litre more than before.
4. Aerodynamics
Perodua has now integrated the new Myvi with elements that improve its aerodynamic profile. In the list are present additions like air spats, semi-flush rear spoiler, and aeroslim wipers. As a result, the hatch now reflects an overall improved drag coefficient of 0.296 Cd.
5. Improved safety shield
Perodua has built the new Myvi from scratch; its skeletal frame is entirely an in-house creation. It is 2.5 times stronger than the predecessor, thanks to the use of high-tensile steel. Great care has been taken by the design team to make the vehicle as safe and secure as possible, and that’s the reason why the car features additional reinforcements and bracing at the edges. All these efforts have helped 2018 Myvi in grabbing a five-star rating by ASEAN NCAP.
With Myvi, Perodua is trying to become the manufacturer of Malaysia's number one selling hatch. With its average booking statics of 6,000 units, we think it’ll be not long that its dream transcends into reality.
