2019 Volvo S60 teased on VCM’s official website

KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo Car Malaysia has teased its fans yet again with the official confirmation of the third-generation S60 through social media pages and its official website. Moreover, it has also given a chance to the car enthusiasts to show their concern by registering interest.

Having said that, before launching the third-generation Volvo S60 in the third quarter of 2019, it looks like the carmaker has pushed the plan slightly. The Volvo S60 was globally unveiled in June last year.

The carmaker has not revealed the details of the available variants and pricing till now. However, it is expected that there will be a T6 AWD version that will be equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine. This motor is capable of churning out a maximum power of 310 hp along with a peak torque of 400 Nm. It is the Aisin-sourced eight-speed automatic gearbox that will take care of the transmission duties.

Also, the Volvo S60 specs sheet tells that it comes with two different PHEV options, including T6 Twin Engine AWD and T8 Twin Engine AWD. The former can churn out a maximum power of 340 hp along with a peak torque of 590 Nm, while the latter can make 390 hp/640 Nm. These two versions are also available in the V60 as well.

As for the third-generation S60, it is expected that the CBU units (fully-imported) will be offered before the CKD ones (local assembly). The CKD units will be assembled in Shah Alam. There is also a chance to get a T5 version that can provide a maximum power of 254 hp along with a peak torque of 350 Nm.
