2021 Nissan Navara teased, set for debut on November 5

KUALA LUMPUR: After many spy shots and leaks, here comes an official update on the 2021 Nissan Navara pickup. Nissan Australia posted a short video teaser of the new version across its social media handles highlighting the history of the ute models. The video ends up with the words - ‘New Nissan Navara coming soon’. The Japanese automaker further confirms that the new pickup would make its world debut on November 5.

The teaser showcased a darkened image of the 2021 model’s front end flaunting LED headlight clusters that comprise low and high beams as well as C-shaped daytime running lights, all of which have new designs. The overall stance also gives an impression of a massive grille and reprofiled bumper. Well, the leaked images of the facelifted pick-up appeared on the internet earlier this month features an undisguised but unofficial preview of the updated Navara.

Under the hood, it is expected to have the familiar 2.3-litre turbodiesel engine. In Europe, the mill has differently tuned for different trims. In one state, it generates 163 PS of maximum power and 425 Nm of peak torque whereas in another it delivers 190 PS and 450 Nm. For transmitting power to the wheels, it could be paired with a six-speed manual as well as a seven-speed automatic gearbox. For 2021, Nissan would continue to offer the options of 4x2 and 4x4 systems.

So far, there is no details on the new Navara cabin changes, however updates in line with the exterior are expected. Also, Nissan is likely to enhance equipment list and standard safety package of the pickup as it currently missed on the latest driver-assistance features, including  blind spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping, and adaptive cruise control

In the local market, the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, and Isuzu D-Max rival is currently priced from RM 85,639 to RM 134,888.
