2022 Honda Civic spotted without disguise

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda is yet to officially reveal the all-new 2022 Civic sedan, however, it has introduced its prototype a while back but that’s not getting the deal running for us. Instead, what keeps our interest alive in the vehicle are the countless spy shots captured over the course of time, it seems like Honda needs to keep its car a little more tightly wrapped. Or is it a marketing strategy? Whatever may be the case, we keep getting the sedan a little better each time.

For instance, this time around the 2022 Honda Civic was spied loaded on a trailer, totally unwrapped, with no camouflage at all. This time around, we saw two Civic, one painted in while and the other in silver. The former is likely called Platinum White Pearl and the later Lunar Silver Metallic. The same colour tones are also seen on the ongoing Civic and they are also part of the Civic’s leaked colour palette that also includes Morning Mist, Meteorite Grey, Sonic Grey, Aegean Blue, Crystal Black Pearl, and Rally Red. Note, the first two tones are brand new to the Civic lineup. The cabin colour hues include only two options - black and white.

What else caught our eye was Civic’s design language which, to be frank, is not revised to a great extent. Compared to the previous-gen model, the new Civic features a smoother profile. The overall simple design is spiced by elements like sleek and sharp headlights and grille and a sporty-looking bumper. At the back, we see reserved tail lamps with a subtle bumper.

As for the interior, Honda has teased it once showcasing minimalistic design. The sedan is also expected to come packed with several high-end features, the latest tech, and a strong safety kit.

Coming to 2022 Civic’s under the hood configuration, the sedan will be powered by the tried and tested 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that’ll act as the base unit. Also, on offer will be the upgraded offering, a 1.5-litre turbocharged mill. Both the mills will be paired with a continuously variable transmission unit.

When will be the new Civic revealed? Well, as per Honda’s promise, i.e. to introduce the production-spec Civic in the first quarter of 2021, only a handful of days are left in the sedan’s arrival.
