2022 Honda HR-V is coming soon; e-HEV powertrain on cards

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda HR-V is a well-known name in the Malaysian automotive industry, with the latest model arriving as a third-gen model. The first-gen HR-V was sold via a handful of importers and is hardly seen today. The second-gen model made the nameplate famous and took Honda Malaysia to the Number 1 spot (sales) for a few years.

Now, we are eagerly waiting for the 2022 HR-V, and from the online promotions by local dealers, it seems the car is on its way. Though no official launch date has been announced yet, we expect it to happen in a few months.

What do we know about the upcoming 2022 Honda HR-V?

Size: The new HR-V has grown in size compared to the previous model; so more space, more comfort

Rival: Since the 2022 HR-V is now more prominent, it will compete with bigger cars of its size. For instance, the Toyota Corolla Cross and Mazda CX-5

Variants: The new HR-V will arrive in three to four variants, one of which will be an electric trim with two motors powered by a battery system giving driving power. There will be a petrol unit as well; however, it will only charge the battery and nothing else

Price: We are guessing the new Honda HR-V e-HEV would cost around RM 140,000 (higher trim)
