A Sharper presence
This mid-life update retains the Tucson’s distinctive Parametric Dynamics design language but gives it a more aggressive front end. The new grille is flanked by larger Parametric Jewel hidden headlights, now with three LED elements per cluster instead of four.
A sharper front bumper, extended silver skid plate, and redesigned 17- to 19-inch wheels further elevate its road presence. Around back, the integrated rear wiper and reshaped rear skid plate give the SUV a more planted and muscular stance.
Interior goes high-tech, EV-Inspired
Inside, the changes are even more dramatic. Gone is the “waterfall” dashboard — now replaced by a horizontal twin-screen layout anchored by a 12.3-inch curved digital display and touch-type 6.6-inch air-con panel.
Hyundai has also adopted a minimalist approach for the new steering wheel, echoing elements from its Ioniq EVs, and moved the gear selector to the steering column for Prestige variants, freeing up space in the redesigned floating centre console.
Comfort and convenience see an uplift too. Leather upholstery is standard from the Prime variant upwards, while Prestige variants get premium features like a wireless charging pad, Electro Chromatic Mirror, and Surround View Monitor.
Three engine options
Under the hood, it now offers three powertrain choices:
-
2.0L MPI (Style) – 156 PS / 192 Nm, 6-speed automatic
-
1.6L Turbo GDI (Prime & Prestige) – 180 PS / 264 Nm, 7-speed DCT
-
1.6L Turbo Hybrid (Prestige HEV) – 235 PS / 367 Nm, 6-speed automatic
Front-wheel drive is standard across the board, with 4WD available exclusively on the Prestige ICE variant.
ADAS now standard on higher trims
The Tucson facelift sees a major upgrade in its safety offering, particularly in the Prime and Prestige variants, which now include the full suite of Hyundai SmartSense. Key features include:
-
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning
-
Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
-
Smart Cruise Control
-
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist
-
Driver Attention Warning with Leading Vehicle Departure Alert
-
Lane Keep and Lane Following Assist
-
Rear Occupant Alert
The top-spec Prestige trims go even further with features like Blind-Spot View Monitor and a 360-degree Surround View Monitor, enhancing safety and visibility in tight manoeuvres.
Launching soon
The facelifted Tucson is available in three variants — Style, Prime, and Prestige, with both ICE and Hybrid options and pricing is to be announced at the official launch next week.
With sharper styling, a more upmarket cabin, a new hybrid powertrain, and a much stronger active safety suite, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson looks well-positioned to compete in Malaysia’s hotly-contested mid-size SUV market, if the pricing is competitive that is.
