5 new cars many Malaysians are waiting for

5 new cars many Malaysians are waiting for

These are going to be the hot selling new cars for the close of 2022.

There are a number of new cars about to be launched in the coming month. The most anticipated launch is the all-new Honda HR-V which is coming after the previous model has been selling for more than 7 years. Then there is 9-year-old Perodua Alza which has been a Malaysian favourite and its replacement is rumoured to be launched this June.

But there are 5 more new cars coming before Christmas and we want to share this news with you so that you can decide to save and wait or spend your money on a current new car.

Probably first to arrive will be the much talked about Kia EV6 GT full electric car which is a direct sibling to the best-selling Hyundai IONIQ 5 fully electric car. With estimated pricing of just above RM 300,000, it will be sold out before launch for sure as there are a number of Malaysians who want to get this funky-looking vehicle in their garage.

In the family car segment, we have news Edaran Tan Chong will be launching the all-new Nissan Serena Hybrid and it will be priced a little higher this time at RM 150,000. With NO rival in this segment (except for used reconditioned units like the Honda Spada and Toyota Voxy), this new Serena will be again, a best seller and as you read this, bookings have passed 1,000 units.

Next, we have the all-new Toyota Vios. Also long overdue and starting to look very dated in design and technology against the current segment best seller, the Honda City, The Vios is already on its final test in Thailand and should be launched in Thailand just before its Malaysian introduction.

The middle-class Malaysian does not want to be left out of the electric car ownership possibility and this is why the social media engagement for a lower-priced EV has been strong in recent months. But current new EVs launched are mostly luxury or premium models. This is why the launch of the Ora Good Cat EV from China is going to be fun to watch. Initially, estimated pricing was below RM 99k which makes it very affordable, but recent reports are stating a price from RM 160,000 which is too close to the Nissan Leaf and Hyundai Kona EV pricing. Let’s wait and see.

The final much-talked about car launch is the all new sports crossover from Volvo. The all-electric C40 Recharge was scheduled to arrive next month, but with computer chip shortages and supply chain issues, this sexy new rival to the German EVs is now set to arrive in November this year. Still, there are healthy bookings from Malaysians who have not seen a selling price, touched the car, test driven the car or even seen it up close.

There are more launches planned, but the above are our top 5 new launches for the rest of 2022.
