After Tiggo 8 Pro and Omoda 5, Chery will launch the Tiggo 7 Pro in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, that’s right. It has been only a while since Chery entered the Malaysian market bringing in two amazing models, the Tiggo 8 Pro and Omoda 5. And now we hear, the Chinese automaker has already planned its next model for the local market.

Chery International Vice President Shawn Xu during a recent press conference confirmed that the Tiggo 7 Pro will be the brand’s next model for Malaysia.

Malaysia is not unknown to the upcoming Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, as the SUV was previewed last year in October.

Here let us get to know the car in detail -

Powertrain

The Tiggo 7 Pro is powered by two engine options - a 156hp/230 Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four mill (same as the Omoda 5) and a 194hp/290 Nm 1.6-litre turbocharged unit. However, it is unclear which of the two engine options will make it to the local market.

Size

The upcoming Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is similar in size to the Proton X70, thus giving it a remarkable road presence.

Features

Like all the other Chery models, the Tiggo 7 Pro also comes loaded with the nicest of comfort features. A few of the inclusions are -

• Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Leather upholstery
• A full suite of advanced driver assistance features

It is to be noted that the final equipment list will be clear on the car’s launch, as was the case with the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro.

Assembly

Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is also expected to be locally assembled at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah.

In other news

In addition to the Tiggo 7 Pro, Chery Malaysia will also be adding the fully-electric Omoda 5 EV to its lineup alongside the Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV.
