All-new Proton X50 launched in Brunei

KUALA LUMPUR: After exporting a record-breaking 6,000 cars in 2025, Proton continues to expand its international footprint. Proton International Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (PICSB) kicked off the year 2026 with the launch of the all-new Proton X50 in Brunei, underscoring the brand’s commitment to delivering globally competitive products tailored for overseas markets.

    The Proton X50 launch ceremony in Brunei was held at Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday. It was graced by His Excellency Dato' Mohd Aini Antan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, and attended by Wan Wei, Vice President of PICSB, and Tan Kah Boon, Chairman of Pad Motors Sdn. Bhd, and Hambali bin Pehin Salleh, Managing Partner of PAD Motors.

    Proton X50 in Brunei: Price and specs  

    Proton offers the new X50 in three variants in Brunei - Executive, Premium and Flagship, priced as follows. 

    • Proton X50 Executive: BND 27,499 (RM 86k)
    • Proton X50 Premium: BND 31,500 (RM 99k)
    • Proton X50 Flagship: BND 34,500 (RM 108k)

    The early-bird promo, available for the first 100 customers, offers a discount of BND 1,500. The service package comprises a 5-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and six free labour services.

    Designed to meet the rising expectations of global customers, the new X50 features refreshed exterior styling, a refined interior, and advanced driver-assistance systems. It comes powered by a new i-GT 1.5TD 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers a maximum power of 181 PS and a peak torque of 290 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via an optimised 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission.

    Among the key feature highlights are - full LED headlamps, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, 14.6-inch infotainment unit, 72-colour rhythmic ambient lighting, leatherette upholstery, 6 SRS airbags, Level 2 ADAS with up to 12 parking sensors, and a 360° HD camera with a 180° transparent undercarriage view.

It also highlights the important role Brunei continues to play in PROTON’s international journey. With models like the Proton X50, the company is well-positioned to achieve its 2026 export targets and accelerate towards our long-term ambition of reaching 330,000 units by 2030, with 30% contributed by export markets,” said Wan Wei, Vice President of Proton International Corporation Sdn. Bhd.

    As PROTON advances into 2026, Brunei is set to remain an important contributor to the automaker’s export growth, with a target of 1,000 units for the year.
