KUALA LUMPUR: The year 2025 was full of high-impact milestones for the national automaker Proton, marked by market-leading model performances, strategic national initiatives, and international expansion. Proton sold a total of 157,976 units (across the entire group) during the year, representing an overall growth of 3.3% compared to the 152,352 units sold in 2024. A total of 14,655 units were registered in December 2025.

The automaker has expanded its network to 187 Proton Edar outlets, including 27 new 3S/4S centres and Sales City Centres. As for electric cars, the Proton e.MAS now has the largest dedicated EV chain in the country with 48 e.MAS dealerships nationwide (36 3S centres, 12 1S centres and 10 dedicated Body & Paint facilities). Ensuring a seamless EV ownership experience is DC fast-charging stations available at 44 e.MAS dealerships.
Proton also marked a key milestone in EV manufacturing by launching the country’s first Dedicated EV plant in Tanjong Malim in September 2025.

- It commenced operations with a RM 47 million investment, providing an initial capacity of 20,000 units that is scalable to a maximum of 45,000 units per annum.
- Alongside Proton EV, the facility will carry out production of premium Geely Group brands such as Zeekr.
Other key national initiatives
- Ended 40 years of production in Shah Alam and successfully transitioned 1,400 employees to the high-tech Tanjong Malim facility.
- Showcased the all-new Saga and the e.MAS 5 at the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, highlighting its locally-designed innovations and role in Malaysia’s energy transition.

- Previewed the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV (total range exceeding 1,400 km), live demonstrations of Global Modular Architecture and AI-enabled connectivity at the Proton Technology Showcase 2025.
- Strengthened the local ecosystem, with a total RM 3.2 billion spent on auto parts from Malaysian suppliers.
- Signed a 5-year strategic collaboration with MARii to establish the National Automotive Test Centre
- Introduced the PROTON Xchange Programme, a RM 4.8 million pilot initiative to remove unroadworthy vehicles aged 15 years and older.

Proton exported a record-breaking 6,000 cars in 2025 through Proton International Corporation Sdn Bhd (PICSB), which is the highest volume since 2012 and a 26% growth over 2024. Key milestones include -
- Proton made a comeback in Singapore (after 11 years), with the launch of the Proton e.MAS 7. A total of 224 units were exported to the country in 2025.
- Egypt emerged as the largest market with 2,280 units
- 1,316 units were exported to Vietnam for the Geely brand
- December saw 986 units exported, the highest monthly volume in 2025.
- The Saga, X50, and e.MAS 7 are the best-selling models in the export segment, with the X50 leading at 1,747 units, followed by the Saga with 3,109 units.
