BMW 118i Sport Spotted on BMW Malaysia's Facebook Page

Kuala Lumpur: Yesterday BMW Malaysia announced a new 1 Series variant on its Facebook page. It would be joining the 120i M Sport which is currently the sole member of this facelifted range. If sources are to be believed, the new model would be dubbed as BMW 118i Sport and would become the cheapest BMW in Malaysia. Although nothing much has been announced regarding its pricing.

Towards the exterior, it gets unique bumpers with gloss black highlights and different side skirts. While the 120i model was anchored with 18-inch M Sport wheels, this new variant would be getting two-tone 17-inch star-spoke wheels surrounded by tires measuring 225/45 R17. Illumination would be provided by standard LED headlights. Overall this car comes in Sport Line guise. Moving inside, the power-adjustable sport seats are wrapped in Sensatec leather with gloss black trim and matte red highlights. Further, it gets a multifunction sports steering wheel, dual-zone automatic air conditioning system, push-start button along with auto lights and wipers. Moreover, it is also employed with a BMW Professional Audio sound system which is connected to a 6.5-inch iDrive display.

Under the hood, it has ditched the 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine and is powered by a new 1.5-litre TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine which was also integrated into BMW 318i Luxury. Further, this engine churns out a maximum power of 136 hp at 4400 rpm along with a peak torque of 220 Nm at 1250-4300 rpm. This robust engine is mated to an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The automaker has also provided an array of safety features which consist of a six airbag mechanism including two front airbags, two side airbags and two curtain airbags. Additional features include Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) inclusive of Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), as well as ISOFIX child seat anchors for the rear seats.
