BMW 5 Series Sedan: 5 Things that make it the segment benchmark

It was only a while back that BMW launched the all-new 5 Series Sedan in Malaysia. The sedan is offered in two variants - 530e plug-in hybrid and 530i, both equipped with M Sport packages.

These locally-assembled models can be yours for RM 317,534 (530e M Sport) and RM 368,122 (for 530i M Sport). The price includes SST exemption and a standard two-year, unlimited warranty. Post the SST exemption, the prices will hike up to RM 323,980 and RM 378,980 for the 530e M Sport and 530i M Sport models, respectively. However, if the customer opts for the five-year warranty and free scheduled service package, the prices will shoot to RM 334,354 and RM 384,942 respectively.

BMW 5 Series Sedan details

Enough of the number games, let’s now discuss the five things that make the 5 Series Sedan a segment benchmark -

Athletic & aesthetic exterior design

The new 5 Series Sedan features the typical BMW proportions that guide it towards sportiness and self-assuredness. For instance, it features a long wheelbase, extended bonnet, and flowing roof line. In addition, the precise contours create a fascinating contrast to the streamlined surfaces, creating a modern look.

The BMW kidney grille and BMW Laserlight give the sedan’s front profile a dynamic character. Also, the seamless connection between the headlight and grille underlines the car’s breath and generates exceptional road presence and elegance. The free-form tailpipes in the rear apron further continue to maintain the same exterior presence.

Overall, the 5 Series Sedan design delivers a stylish and sporty image.

Modern & functional cabin

Both the 530e and 530i are identical from the inside and staying true to the M badge they feature an M Sport steering wheel, M alloy pedals, M side sill scuff plates, and power-adjustable sports seats with driver’s side memory. Adding to its premium appeal is the Dakota leather upholstery, black headlining, and Smoke Grey Aluminium Rhombicle trim.

On the functional side of things, the 5 Series Sedan gets remapped steering wheel controls, designed seats for greater comfort, revamped 12.3-inch instrument display and another 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and gloss black centre control buttons.

Furthermore, the sedan runs on BMW Operating System 7.0 that features larger tiles, the Intelligent Personal Assistant voice control, and over-the-air updates.

Precise driving dynamics

The BMW 5 Series Sedan puts forward an athletic performance on every trip. From its economical four-cylinder diesel engine to the impressive torque and high-revving character of the six-cylinder petrol mill, it is bliss to drive. Further, maximum sheer driving pleasure and optimum traction are guaranteed via its perfectly turned drive and chassis technology like the xDrive all-wheel-drive system, Adaptive suspension, and Integral Active Steering.

Besides the standard COMFORT settings that enhance driving comfort, the SPORT program can opt for an athletic damper setting.
