KEY TAKEAWAYS
How is Chery being accepted in Malaysia?
Chery Malaysia shared that they got a super high score of 94 out of 100 in a sales satisfaction surveyWhat's the next model to be launched by Chery Malaysia and when?
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro in Q2Vice President Lee Wen Hsiang, at their Annual Business Briefing, shared some stats to how they are doing in Malaysia. Chery Malaysia delivered over 4,500 units to customers in 2023 and got a super high score of 94 out of 100 in a sales satisfaction survey. That's pretty impressive for a brand that's still pretty new in Malaysia.
Lee acknowledged that they had some initial hiccups when they first entered the market, but they're super focused on sorting out any customer issues – something they're continuing into 2024.
On top of this, Chery Auto Malaysia's gearing up for a major expansion. Network Development Director Soon Boon Ping mentioned they're looking to boost their outlets from 32 to 48 by the end of 2024. This is about making Chery cars more accessible and marking their presence across Malaysia. They're also investing in training their sales and aftersales teams, aiming for continuous improvement.
And there's more on the horizon. Product Director Michael Chew spilled the beans on some new models coming up in 2024. Malaysians can look forward to the launch of the Omoda E5 by the end of Q1 and the Tiggo 7 Pro in Q2. Plus, there's a mystery model lined up for Q4, said to be more wallet-friendly.
Could that vehicle be the Chery Tiggo Pro 2, their smallest and most affordable SUV? If it is, it would give compact SUVs such as the Honda WR-V and Perodua Ativa some great competition. Over 900k units of the vehicle has been made so far and the little plucky Chinese SUV is making waves in China and in markets where it has landed.
So, yeah, Chery Auto Malaysia is not just resting on their laurels, but they're ramping up their game big time.
