GIIAS 2015: Lexus RX, new SUV in town

Kuala Lumpur: The much-anticipated event of LEXUS at the GIIAS 2015 finally unveiled its amazing SUV Lexus RX alongside its best-selling model from past 26-years - Lexus ES facelift. Which is already open for booking in Malaysian market and Lexus is all primed to launch it soon. Lexus RX made its debut at the New York auto show earlier this year. Lexus's introduction of NX crossover gave freedom to RX to grow on its own. This made RX mutate in designs and engine. The SUV now features a 50 mm longer wheelbase making it 2,789 mm. The exteriors of a Lexus are easily recognizable from a distance, most unique being the X-shaped iconic grille.

According to the Gen Ikeda, the Project chief designer “RX’s design concept posses “Seductive Strength” and the SUV has bolder proportions via the increased wheelbase and bigger wheel size. The chief designer adds that the all-new RX holds “unmatched presence”.

This elegant SUV, when launched in NYC was powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine (RX 350) and a 3.5 litre V6 mated to a hybrid drive system for the RX 450h. Both these herculean engines proffer a power of 300 hp. Although, in April, Lexus announced the RX 270-replacing RX 200t, which used the latest 235 hp engine producing 350 Nm torque, a 2.0 litre turbo unit from the NX. The unit which is showcased in GIIAS is a RX 350 with the F Sports package and a sporty red cabin. This new Luxurious SUV will soon set its foot in Malaysia and it’ll be easier for the company to sell it this time.
