This performance has cemented GWM’s position as one of the leading Chinese car brands in the country, placing it among the top three in Malaysia.
The company attributes part of this success to the growing popularity of its Haval H6 HEV, which it says has become a top choice among Malaysians looking for a hybrid SUV.
GWM Malaysia Chief Operating Officer, Roslan Abdullah, said the results are about more than just numbers.
“It’s not just about figures; it’s about meaningful momentum,” he said. “Our growth shows that Malaysians are embracing our vision — vehicles that combine innovation, value, and everyday usability.”

GWM also pointed out that the Haval H6 HEV has received recent regional recognition, having won an ASEAN record for being the hybrid SUV with the longest verified driving range.
The brand positions the model as a competitive alternative in the hybrid segment, offering safety features, innovation, and driving comfort at a price point it believes is accessible.
To further push sales, GWM is offering new buyers of the H6 HEV a rebate worth RM6,600 and a 10-year HEV battery warranty. This same extended warranty is also being made available to existing owners of the H6 HEV, which the company says reflects its commitment to customer loyalty and long-term peace of mind.
Expanding Presence Nationwide
Beyond its product lineup, GWM has been actively expanding its retail network. From 18 dealerships in mid-2024, the company now has 26 outlets across Malaysia and aims to hit 35 by the end of the year.
The company says this expansion will help it serve customers better while supporting a more sustainable sales ecosystem in the long run.
New Models and Bigger Goals for H2 2025
Looking ahead, GWM Malaysia plans to broaden its model portfolio in the second half of the year, with an emphasis on premium and high-performance options.
Apart from the obvious introduction of their locally assembled WEY 80 PHEV MPV, one of the upcoming releases will be an electric hatchback targeting younger buyers — a move the company hopes will bridge practicality and performance for the local market.
This we can confirm will be the Ora Good Cat GT, a sportier, more performance-focused take on GWM's compact electric hatchback. While it shares its core underpinnings with the regular Good Cat, the GT stands out with upgraded styling and a more powerful drivetrain.
Visually, the GT version looks more aggressive thanks to a redesigned front bumper, chunkier wheel arch cladding, extended side skirts, and contrasting highlights all around.
It also comes with a rear spoiler, a sportier rear diffuser, and exclusive 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels. The yellow brake calipers further hint at its performance intentions. Inside, the cabin gets suede and leather upholstery, GT logos stitched into the sport seats, and bold accent colours to match the exterior theme.
If we take some hints from our neighbours where it is already sold, performance-wise, the Good Cat GT in Thailand uses a 171 PS (126 kW) front-mounted electric motor with 250 Nm of torque—more powerful than the standard Good Cat’s 143 PS (105 kW) and 210 Nm output.
While both use the same 57.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, the GT has a slightly lower range of around 460 km (NEDC), compared to 480 km for the regular version, likely due to the increased power and added weight.
The GT is also equipped with a launch control mode for sharper acceleration, something the standard variant doesn’t offer.
Roslan added that this next phase will not only reflect GWM’s growing presence, but also the strength of its supply chain and the support of its dealer network.
“Our first-half results reflect the strength of our product ecosystem and the support from our dealer partners,” he said. “We remain committed to challenging norms and offering relevant products for Malaysian communities.”
