Honda Civic sedan has a new base variant; LX trim dropped

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda America has made a few alterations in its lineup, the Civic sedan is now offered in three, instead of four variants.

The Civic sedan range has dropped its base LX trim, thus bringing the variant list down to Sport, EX, and Touring (from base to top).

Let’s get to know the new base variant of the Civic sedan in detail -

Performance: Powering the Civic Sport trim is a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine making a maximum power output of 158 hp along with a peak torque of 187 Nm. The EX and Touring trims, on the other hand, come with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged mill generating 180 hp and 240 Nm. The drive is sent to the wheels in all three variants via a CVT unit.

The Sport trim also benefits from paddle shifters and a 3-mode drive system including ECON and Sport modes.

Exterior: Giving the Sport trim its sporty appearance are features like - full LED headlamps, 18-inch gloss-black alloys, gloss black power side mirrors, matte black upper window trim, and chrome exhaust finisher.

Interior: The cabin is super comforting with fitments like automatic climate control,
Fabric seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, fold-down rear seatback, and 180-watt audio system with 8 speakers.

Technology: Connectivity and technology is a given when it is a Civic. The base model comes equipped with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto support, smart entry with walk-away auto lock, Bluetooth streaming audio, USB port, push-button start, remote engine start, and a 7-inch colour touch screen.

Safety: The base model is no less when it comes to the safety of its passengers. The kit includes - Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Multi-Angle Rearview Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control w/ Low-Speed Follow, Lane Keeping Assist System, and Traffic Sign Recognition.

While these revisions are limited to the American market, the Malaysian-spec Civic continues to be offered in three variants namely, E, V, and RS.  Not to forget the upcoming e:HEV hybrid model.
