It’s official – Mazda CX-60 bookings open in Malaysia, est. price announced

KUALA LUMPUR: Last week, we reported that a few local Mazda dealers had started accepting bookings for the highly anticipated CX-60 SUV, sparking speculation about an imminent launch. Well, Mazda has now made it official.

Bermaz Motor, the official distributor of Mazda cars in Malaysia, is now accepting reservations for the CX-60, which was previewed at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show in December.

The Mazda CX60 is offered in a single 2.5G 2WD High variant, fully imported from Japan. The estimated price tag reads RM 200,510.40 (on the road without insurance). Included in the price is a five-year/100,000 km manufacturing warranty and a five-year/100,000 km free maintenance.

While the company does not reveal powertrain or equipment details, the variant’s name suggests that the Malaysia-spec CX60 will get the same 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated Skyactiv-G inline-four petrol engine offered in Singapore. The mill generates a maximum power of 191 PS and a peak torque of 261 Nm. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the rear wheels.

The CX-60 is Mazda’s new flagship SUV, which underpins its “Large Product Group” platform. Slotted above the CX-5, it measures 4,740 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, 1,680 mm in height, and 2,870 mm in wheelbase. 

In terms of design, the upcoming Mazda SUV features the brand’s evolving Kodo design under the theme of “Noble Toughness.” It boasts Mazda's signature front grille with vertical slats, vertical L-shaped LED headlights, and 20-inch aluminium alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin exudes Japanese craftsmanship with natural materials like wood, woven textiles, and contemporary tech. 

As for features, we can expect a 12.3-inch instrument panel, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a heads-up display, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, Nappa leather upholstery, and advanced driver-assistance systems.
