KLIMS 2018: Have a look at the Honda HR-V

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian crowd has been waiting for the new Honda HR-V eagerly after the crossover went out of stock in July. Since then, Honda has been quiet and has not opened up on the return of the HR-V. The outgoing model of the Honda HR-V was sold like hot cakes during the “0” GST period. With the new stock yet to arrive, we probably will be getting the facelifted HR-V now. Honda is expected to announce the prices and availability of the new crossover soon.

Visit KLIMS 2018 and you will find a brand new Honda HR-V on display, and that too in its RS avatar. With the new designing, the crossover now also features an updated interior. The new additions include 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, paddle shifters, ivory colored leather-wrapped dashboard, leather seats, and centre console.

On the outside, you can find new LED headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED tail lights, revamped bumpers on both front and rear, and the trademark RS grille. Among other features are LaneWatch, and Variable Gear Ratio (VGR) steering.

Note that the base and high-end variants may not get the special features, and they are very likely to be exclusive to the RS.

The new Honda HR-V will continue getting its power from the 1.8-litre 4-cylinder 16-valve SOHC i-VTEC motor. The engine is equipped with electronic fuel injection and the power figures are rated at 142 PS of max power at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 172 Nm at 4,300 rpm. A continuous variable transmission (CVT) unit takes care of delivering the power to the wheels.

Similar safety features like the pre-facelift model are expected to be carried over on the updated model. The outgoing Honda HR-V features a total of 6 airbags (2-front, 2-side, 2-curtain), ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Automatic Brake Hold, One Touch Lane Change, Automatic Brake Hold, and more.
