Lamborghini to soon introduce updated Urus SUV

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, you read it right. Lamborghini is working on Urus facelift. In three years of the car's existence, it will be for the first time that the SUV will benefit from an update. How do we know? Well, the automaker has begun the facelifted model's winter testing.

What do we see?

Well, as the prototype was seen doing winter testing, heavy snow is deemed to be seen, plus the black-white camouflage is a given. The upcoming model displayed several styling tweaks like reshaped front air intake, especially around the lower half portion. Also, the bumper has been revised and the car now gets a leading lip on the bonnet.

At the side, the facelifted Urus looks less aggressive than the ongoing model. But we aren't sure as you never know what lies beneath the heavy camouflage.

The rear seems to be the same as the ongoing model, except for the new brake-light designs and reshaped lower diffuser.

What will power the facelifted Urus?

Lamborghini has already confirmed a new PHEV variant for the Urus SUV, however, the test mule doesn't seem to wear an electric warning signal. Thus, it is expected to be powered by the tried and tested 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol mill. We are pretty sure that on introduction a PHEV model will be a part of the new Urus lineup.

The Urus PHEV model is expected to feature several powertrain variations - the same used in Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E -Hybrid. Here the VW's 4.0-litre V8 turbo mill would be coupled with an electric motor. The combined output will rest at 671 hp and 75 Nm. It will offer an all-electric driving range of 30 km and 90g/km of CO2 emission.

Overall the new Urus would be a great step forward towards the new 2021 model. As it has been Lamborghini's best selling product for the last two years. Also, with stringent emission regulations, urban drivers are looking for better options.
