Save the date! Land Rover Defender launch in Malaysia on Oct 21

KUALA LUMPUR: Good news for Malaysian off-road enthusiasts! The much-awaited Land Rover Defender launch is finally going to happen on October 21, 2021, at 11 am on the brand’s Facebook page. In the local market, the new off-road monster will be available in a single trim i.e. Defender 110 loaded with a number of exciting features and two powertrain choices.

Based on the D7x architecture with all-aluminum monocoque built, the all-new Land Rover Defender has the stiffest body structure the brand has ever produced. It is three times stiffer than the best body-on-frame vehicles available in the market. It has a maximum towing capability of 3,500 kg and a maximum static roof load of 300 kg.   

With a wading depth of 900 mm, the new Defender is the first Land Rover that gets a wade program within the Terrain Response menu. The wade sensing uses ultrasonic sensors positioned in the SUV’s door mirrors, which warns the driver visually as well audibly when water approaches the maximum wading depth of the vehicle. 

The new Land Rover Defender is also equipped with a 3D Surround Camera that provides 3D exterior perspectives alongside a 360° overhead view to make maneuvering easy. Its  innovative ClearSight Ground View also displays the front underside of the vehicle on the large central touchscreen.

The available powertrain options include a 2.0-litre turbocharged in-line four petrol mill generating a maximum power output of 300 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm. Another mill on offer is a 3.0-litre mild-hybrid inline-six petrol that delivers 400 PS and 550 Nm. Both mills are paired with a twin-speed automatic gearbox and a permanent all-wheel-drive system that make the SUV a perfect companion for overland adventures.

For fine-tune driving, the SUV packs adaptive dynamics with electronic air suspension. Its adaptive dampers monitor body movements up to 500 times per second and respond instantly to optimize comfort while ensuring a composed flat ride.

Another exciting highlight of this off-road monster is a state-of-the-art new Pivi Pro infotainment system coupled with a British-based Meridian Sound System.

Interested folks can now book the all-new Defender at Jaguar Land Rover showrooms nationwide. The brand is offering the SUV with a five-year warranty, five years of free service, and three years of roadside assistance.
