Leapmotor hands over C10 EVs to Ministry of Transport; supporting EV adoption

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is committed to a cleaner, low-carbon future, and to support this national agenda, Leapmotor Malaysia recently handed over two units of its C10 electric SUV to the Ministry of Transport (MOT) during the Majlis Penyerahan Kenderaan EV Kepada Kementerian Pengangkutan.

Under a three-month testing and operational evaluation programme, the Leapmotor C10s will help the ministry to assess how electrified vehicles can perform in the real-world transportation landscape in Malaysia. The results will offer valuable insights for the EV infrastructure planning and encourage wider adoption of eco-friendly vehicles in both the public and private sectors.

Support Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB) 2021–2030

This collaboration highlights the shared vision between the automaker’s electrification agenda and the government’s unwavering commitment to sustainable mobility. It will support Malaysia’s Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB) 2021–2030, which aims to decarbonise the land transport sector. 

The LCMB outlines the following strategies -

• Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
• Improving energy efficiency
• Promoting adoption of electric vehicles as a key enabler of a sustainable transportation ecosystem

Such initiative also underlines how automakers and government agencies can work hand in hand to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a forward-looking country in sustainable transportation.

Leapmotor C10 price and specifications 

As a quick recap, Stellantis officially introduced the Leapmotor brand in Malaysia with the launch of the C10 in October last year. The C10 is a D-segment SUV featuring a future-forward design, spacious cabin, Maserati-tuned driving dynamics, luxurious driving experience, and advanced safety systems.

The EV received a range of updates for model year 2025 just a couple of months back, including an uprated 11 kW on-board charger (reducing the 30%-80% charging time from 6 hours to 4 hours), new upholstery palette, a new 32-litre frunk, a boot tonneau cover, a new Direct Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and a motorised tyre inflator pump kit.
