MAS 2025: Rugged and boxy Jetour T2 SUV debuts in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Alongside launching the VT9 SUV, Jetour Malaysia also previewed its upcoming rugged adventure SUV, the T2, at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025. Known as the Traveller in China, the Jetour T2 is expected to hit the local roads later this year.

The Jetour T2 is a boxy-looking SUV reminiscent of classic off-roaders. Built on the automaker’s Kunlun unibody platform, the 5-door vehicle is 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide, 1,880 mm tall, and has a 2800 mm wheelbase. 

The SUV has notable off-road capabilities, with 220 mm of ground clearance, a 28-degree approach angle, a 30-degree departure angle, and a 700 mm wading depth.

Under the metal skin, the T2 can be configured in a pure ICE or a plug-in hybrid mill. While Jetour is yet to disclose the local specifications, the following versions are offered globally -   

• 1.5-litre turbocharged engine mated to a single electric motor, producing 381 PS and 610 Nm
• 1.5-litre turbocharged engine mated to two electric motors, producing 619 PS and 700 Nm
• 1.5-litre turbocharged tuned to deliver 184 PS and 290 Nm
• 2.0-litre turbocharged, capable of generating 254 PS and 390 Nm

With PHEV models also come with a 26.7 kWh or 43.2 kWh battery pack, offering an all-electric range of up to 161 km on a single charge.

Another standout highlight of the off-road SUV is the XWD system, which is fully automatic and can intelligently switch between 2WD and 4WD. There are seven different drive modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow, Mud, Rock, and XWD) enabling you to cruise all types of terrains smoothly and confidently. 

Adding to the off-roading capabilities are electronic limited-slip differential, Hill Descent Control, Advanced Traction Control System and a 360° Cameras with Off-Road Trajectory Guidance.

The interior of the T2 focuses on modern technology and comfort, with the following noteworthy inclusions  -

• 10.25-inch digital cluster screen
• 15.6-inch infotainment unit
• Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
• Leather upholstery
• Rotary dial for drive modes 
• Colourful atmosphere lights
• Dual automatic air conditioning
• Power-adjustable seats with a heating function
• Panoramic sunroof
• Wireless charging
• Keyless entry
• Powered tailgate

The Jetour also has a high safety quotient thanks to its steel cage body structure, an arrayed high-density roof, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
