Performance-oriented F90 BMW M5 sedan to be launched in Malaysia tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: The much-awaited F90 BMW M5 will be launched in Malaysia on May 18, i.e. tomorrow, after a long wait. The performance-oriented sedan was unveiled last year in August. Hence, the arrival has taken quite a lot of time.

The F90 BMW M5 gets a lot of features as standard. On the exterior line, the performance sedan rides on 20-inch wheels and has carbon fibre roof. Apart from these, other standard features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with gesture control, adaptive cruise control, four-zone automatic climate control, 11-colour ambient lighting, parking assistance with reverse camera, etc. There will also be a set of 16 speakers that are connected to the Harmon Kardon audio system.

Safety wise, the to-be-launched BMW M5 sedan will be getting Approach Control Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Driving Assistance Package, Crossing Traffic Warning, Lane Change, and Lane Departure Warnings.

Since the F90 BMW M5 is a performance-oriented sedan, it would be powered by a twin-turbocharged, 4.4-litre V8 engine that can punch out a huge power of 600 hp between 5,600 and 6,700 rpm along with a humongous torque of 750 Nm between 1,800 and 5,600 rpm. The power from the high revving engine will be sent down to the xDrive AWD mechanism via an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. The engine is powerful enough for the car to hit an acceleration of 0-100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds.

It is quite noteworthy to know that both the M Steptronic transmission and xDrive AWD have been offered in a non-SUV M car for the first time. Also, the M5 sedan will be getting many drive modes that will change the driving dynamics completely. A 4WD is standard, apart from a sportier rear-biased 4WD Sport mode. Also, for the people who love hitting the race track more often, the stability control can be shut off and the power could be shifted completely to the rear wheels so that you can pull off long drifts on sharp bends.

The F90 BMW M5 sedan could have a price range starting from RM1 million.
