Proton e.MAS 7 continues to win hearts; bookings crossed 5.5k mark

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian electric market has witnessed an influx of electric cars in the last few years, ranging from small hatchbacks to large SUVs to premium luxury vans. While non-national automakers led the charge until the end of 2024, Proton is grabbing all the eyeballs with its first electric car, the e.MAS 7, this year.

Since the order-taking began in October last year, the automaker has received a total of 5,500 bookings for the EV. Speaking of sales, the automaker has delivered over 1,800 EVs so far.

While the Proton e.MAS 7 is based on the Geely Galaxy E5, it is purpose-built for Malaysians by Malaysians, as Proton engineers worked on the EV from the start of its development. The EV has been fine-tuned for the local roads, through 100,000 km of local road testing, ensuring durability in Malaysia’s diverse terrains and climate.
Strong performance
The Proton EV is powered by an electric motor that delivers a maximum power of 160kW and a peak torque of 320 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.9 seconds and hits a top speed of 175 kmph. This strong performance makes city driving a breeze and ensures ample power for highway cruising.

Spacious cabin
The e.MAS 7 offers best-in-class interior space thanks to its 2,750 mm long wheelbase and flat cabin floor. The capacity of the boot space is measured at 1,888 litres with the rear seats folded, which also houses a 51-litre underfloor storage tub. The automaker has positioned 33 creative storage compartments throughout the cabin, including a hidden 14-litre underseat compartment for valuables.
