Proton e.MAS 7 finally gets Android Auto via OTA update, wired and wireless
KUALA LUMPUR: Proton’s e.MAS 7 owners are starting to see Android Auto arrive at last, with users in the Proton e.MAS 7 Community Malaysia Facebook group saying the feature is now being pushed out through an over-the-air (OTA) update.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Does the Proton e.MAS 7 now support Android Auto?
Yes. Owners are reporting Android Auto is arriving via the Q4 2025 OTA update, labelled “Flyme Auto S 1.2.0”.Is Android Auto wired only, or wireless too?
The changelog lists both wired and wireless Android Auto support. What else is included in the Flyme Auto S 1.2.0 update?
The published changelog mentions improved screen brightness adjustment, better Malay language translations, plus “additional system optimisations” for stability. When will my e.MAS 7 get the update?
Reports suggest the update is rolling out in batches, so timing can vary from car to car.The update lines up with the roadmap Proton shared earlier this year, and it is labelled as the Q4 2025 software drop. It carries the version name “Flyme Auto S 1.2.0”, and the changelog points to Android Auto support in both wired and wireless forms.

Beyond that, it also lists tweaks like improved screen brightness adjustment, better Malay language translations, plus “additional system optimisations” aimed at improving overall stability.
Based on what owners are reporting, the rollout appears to be staggered, so not everyone gets the update at the same time, which is why there's no official word yet from PRO-NET, we suppose. That said, some users say they’ve been able to get the update done at Proton e.MAS service centres as well.
This is also the latest step in Proton’s quarterly update plan for the e.MAS 7 in 2025. Earlier updates focused on squashing software bugs, refining charging behaviour and driving performance (including ABS tuning), adding support for new third-party apps, and introducing new low-speed pedestrian warning sounds, along with an option to switch it off completely. Apple CarPlay support was added in July this year.

Interestingly, Proton’s second EV, the smaller e.MAS 5, launched with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay already included. It also seems to run a different software system compared to the e.MAS 7, using a suite called Atlas Auto.
