Proton e.MAS 7 gets updates, new colours, and better ownership perks

KUALA LUMPUR:  Proton’s EV arm, PRO-NET, has rolled out a new variant of the e.MAS 7—Malaysia’s best-selling electric vehicle—with a number of small but meaningful updates, all shaped by actual customer feedback.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Does the Proton e.MAS 7 now support Apple CarPlay?

Yes, the updated e.MAS 7 supports both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay; Android Auto will be available by the end of the year.
  • What does the new Power Pack+ package include?

It offers a free home charger, V2L adaptor, 5-year internet data, extended warranty, and RM5,000 trade-in rebate.
  • While the fundamentals of the car remain unchanged, this latest refresh adds new interior and exterior colour options, smarter tech features via over-the-air (OTA) software updates, and a revised sales policy aimed at sweetening the deal for EV buyers.

Now with Apple CarPlay and smarter Functions

One of the biggest changes is the addition of Apple CarPlay, finally answering a long-standing request from iPhone users. It supports both wired and wireless connections. Android Auto is still missing for now but is expected to arrive by Q4 of this year.

The system updates come via Flyme Auto OS, which now runs smoother and supports more third-party apps like Zoom for Cars, izi.TRAVEL, and even the Vivaldi browser.

Another subtle yet handy upgrade includes memory retention for the last-used settings when the car is restarted. This comes particularly handy for those who do not like the "ice cream truck" sound caused by the low-speed pedestrian warning system.

With the update, e.MAS 7 owners can now select between three alert sounds: Classical (the original ice cream truck sound), Galactic Note, and Space Walk. Whichever one you choose will remain active until you change it again.

There's even an option to switch off, but when selected it will reset everytime you start and stop the electric vehicle. So perhaps best option is to choose the low-speed pedestrian warning system chime that you like.

Aesthetic tweaks: More colour options, and limited editions e.MAS 7s

The e.MAS 7 is now offered in Obsidian Black as a new exterior colour—a response to customer demand for a darker, more premium look.

On the inside, Proton is also offering a new Alabaster White interior trim, but only for the Quartz Rose and Turquoise Green Premium variants. Each interior option is limited to 250 units.

These minor cosmetic updates don’t change the EV’s mechanicals but do freshen up the appeal, especially for buyers who want a bit more personality in their EV.

    More value with “Power Pack+”

To go along with the new variant, PRO-NET has launched a new “Power Pack+” package. Here’s what it includes:

    • Power Home: Free 7kW AC home wallbox charger (worth RM1,500)

    • Power Plus: V2L (vehicle-to-load) adaptor worth RM500

    • Power Online: 5 years of unlimited internet data (worth RM1,800)

    • Power Thru: 6-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, plus 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty

    • Power Exchange: RM5,000 trade-in rebate (subject to inspection)

In addition to the above, all e.MAS 7s now come standard with a tonneau cover. Existing owners will receive theirs soon at no extra cost.

    Feedback in action

“We take every customer feedback seriously,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET. “This new e.MAS 7 variant launch is a direct response to what our owners have told us—from what they love and what they want, to where we can do better. It’s not just about adding features, but refining the entire driving experience to ensure the e.MAS 7 remains personal, smart, and reliable.”
