Tesla reveals upcoming charging locations in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Tesla is finally entering the Malaysian market, the automaker has opened the Tesla configurator for the country with its official launch scheduled for Jul 20, 2023.

The Tesla model to grace the Malaysian soil will be the Model Y SUV, whose retail price and specifications are now out. Along with these new introductions, the brand has also planned its upcoming supercharger network for the country.

Yes, Tesla has listed 10 locations across Malaysia where it will place its superchargers. The list includes -

• Petaling Jaya, Selangor
• Dengkil, Selangor
• Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur
• Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur
• Kuala Lumpur (1st additional location)
• Kuala Lumpur (2nd additional location)
• Iskandar Puteri, Johor
• Ipoh, Perak
• Negeri Sembilan
• Perai, Pulau Pinang

However, it is to be noted that the above-mentioned list holds a ‘coming soon’ badge and is subject to change (both location and opening time). Also, new locations are added by the automaker with timings updated quarterly.

As can be seen, most Tesla superchargers cater to the west coast with an emphasis on Klang Valley. Currently, the listed states include Negeri Sembilan, Pulau Pinang, Perak, and Johor.

As for payments, the official website reads, “Supercharging payments are automatically processed from the payment method in the Tesla app”.

In addition to superchargers, Tesla will also offer home charging solutions which according to the automaker is one the most convenient charging methods. Tesla’s Wall Connectors will be soon available in the country users can install them at home or any desired property.
