Hyundai Motor Malaysia gave us the first proper look at the upcoming MPV at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026, and opened the ordering books there as well, with prices estimated to start from RM 99,000.

It was followed by another public appearance at the Hyundai Durian Runtuh weekend event, which happened on Aug 8-9, where the automaker put on display the range-topping variant of the MPV, the 6-seater Stargazer X, decked up in Gravity Gold Matte shade.

The upcoming Stargazer will fight in one of the country’s most competitive segments, going up against established models like the Perodua Alza, Mitsubishi Xpander and Toyota Veloz. However, the automaker is not relying on the price alone, as the Stargazer brings a lot of interesting things to the table. Let’s discuss some of them.

Malaysia is getting the substantially redesigned version

The Hyundai Stargazer made its global debut at Gaikindo Indonesia Auto Show in 2022. Later in 2025, the MPV received a facelift adopting the ‘Cartenz’ suffix (taken from the country’s highest peak) in Indonesia, representing the brand’s vision to achieve higher standards in innovation and comfort.

The facelifted model was introduced in two forms - Stargazer Cartenz and Stargazer Cartenz X, which retain the same platform and basic proportions as the original model, but brought along major styling and cabin revisions.

The new Stargazer’s front ditched the round and futuristic front end in favour of a more upright look, featuring a large rectangular grille, a full-width illuminated H-shaped graphic and vertically positioned headlights. Adding to the stronger appearance are sharper bumpers and a squared-off bonnet. The H-theme is also repeated in the rear lighting signatures.

The rugged-looking Stargazer X, on the other hand, features a more SUV-inspired treatment with a different 3D-stacked grille, unique bumpers, black wheel-arch extensions, and black alloy wheels.

Three variants serving different kinds of buyers

Designed to support the modern fast-paced lifestyle, the MPV is offered in three variants in Malaysia - Style, Prime and X. The range-topping Stargazer X features a six-seat layout, while the lower-spec Style and Prime models incorporate 7 seats.

With an estimated price tag of RM 99k, the Prime appears to be the value-focussed model for budget-conscious families, while the mid-spec Style, priced at RM 109,000, targets those who want a better balance between comfort and value. The top-spec X takes a different approach with distinctive exterior styling and two individual captain chairs in the second row, aiming at buyers who do not want to compromise on comfort and style.

Powertrain that prioritises efficiency and everyday usability

All variants of the upcoming Hyundai MPV are powered by the same 1.5-litre Smartstream G naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 115 PS and a peak torque of 143 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via Hyundai’s IVT gearbox and a Front Wheel Drive system,

While this setup places the Stargazer in the same performance category as the other B-segment MPVs in the market, it is not intended to offer strong acceleration or towing capability. Rather, it is tuned to deliver a smooth urban driving experience with predictable power delivery and fuel efficiency.

    Packed with several advanced features

The MPV is expected to come equipped with several advanced features, ensuring an enjoyable driving experience. Depending on the variant picked, we can expect the following bits on the list -

    • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
    • 10.25-inch infotainment unit
    • Wireless smartphone charging pad
    • Built-in navigation
    • Electronic Parking Brake
    • Powered driver’s seat with ventilation function
    • 9-speaker audio system

    • Push-start button with illumination
    • Remote start engine
    • Ambient lighting
    • USB-C charging ports
    • Six airbags
    • Blind-spot monitor
    • Hyundai SmartSense package

Introductory ownership package is quite attractive

Hyundai Motor Malaysia has announced a very enticing introductory ownership package for the first 800 customers of the model, which offers -

    • 8-year or 160,000 km warranty
    • 8 times or 4 years of free service
    • RM 1,000 All-Star Reward for existing Hyundai owners

This 8-year-long warranty and complimentary servicing clearly reassures buyers considering a relatively new entrant in the local MPV segment, as it helps reduce concerns regarding the initial ownership cost and long-term reliability.

Overall, the  Hyundai Stargazer promises to be an appealing choice for Malaysians seeking a modern MPV. For further details on its launch, stay tuned with us!
