UMW Toyota registers 37% month-on-month sales growth in February 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota continues the momentum of growth in the month of February as well. The Japanese automaker sold a total of 9,297 units (9,233 units for Toyota and 64 units for Lexus) during the month with a growth of 37% as compared to 6,786 (Toyota + Lexus) units delivered in January 2023. 

This can be seen as the brand’s highest-ever month-on-month sales performance for the month of February. In comparison to the same month in 2022, the company recorded a growth of 45%. With that, Toyota’s YTD sales in Malaysia stood at 16,083 (Toyota + Lexus) units, which represents a hike of 15% over the same period in 2022.

UMW Toyota Motor and GAZOO Racing Malaysia introduced five GR and GR Sport models last month along with opening the order books for the all-new fourth-gen Toyota Vios. The former includes - GR Supra, GR Corolla, GR86, Hilux GR Sport, and Corolla Cross GR Sport. This shows the automaker’s commitment to offering ever-better cars designed and engineered with DNA derived from global motorsports experiences and achievements.

Talking about the new Vios, the revamped sedan underpins a new platform, called DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture). It boasts a completely new look and is kitted with advanced creature comforts. The tentative price for the 2023 Toyota Vios starts at RM 90,000.

“With the introduction of our new GR and GR Sport models and the all-new Toyota Vios, we are excited to continue providing our customers with exceptional vehicles that exceed their expectations," Ravindran K. added.

Furthermore, Toyota GAZOO Racing Malaysia also kicked off Round 1 of Season 6 during the month of February. The exciting event was held at the Sepang International Circuit where young drivers dominated the races. It will be followed by Round 2 on 3 and 4 June 2023.
