Updated Mazda CX-5 arrived in Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: Mazda has just launched the updated CX-5 in Thailand. The car was recently launched in Malaysia in five variants, and the Thai-model is similar to the one in the local market. The Thailand model will also be assembled in Malaysia (in Kedah), and shipped to the country.

A new CX-5 2.5L Turbo variant has also been introduced in Thai-market, like in Malaysia. As the name suggests, it is equipped with a four-cylinder 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, also found under the hood of Mazda CX-9. As per the Thai-brochure of the car, the engine churns out a maximum power of 231 hp and a peak torque of 420 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a SkyActiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission along with the i-Activ all-wheel drive. However, for the manual override, there is no option for paddle shifters.

As a CX-5 Turbo model, the top-range car gets some exclusive equipment such as ambient lighting, black headlining, an auto-dimming frameless rearview mirror, ventilated front seats, real wood trim, and brown Nappa leather inside the car.

It also comes with a Bose Surround Sound system (10-speaker). Apart from 2.5L Turbo, the other available variants in Thailand are 2.0 C, 2.0 S, 2.0 SP, 2.2 XD, and 2.2 XDL 4WD. The new CX-5 price tag reads 1.85 million baht in Thailand, which is equivalent to RM 256K in Malaysian currency.

The 2019 CX-5 specs sheet include following safety features - Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitoring, Smart City Brake Support Reverse, and more. In addition to this, Mazda Radar Cruise Control is also present.
