2019 Mazda CX-5 2.5L Turbo specs revealed

The 2019 Mazda CX-5 Turbo has finally made its way to the Malaysian market. The model is equipped with a turbocharged engine called the 2.5L Turbo AWD. As reported, the vehicle will remain assembled locally and the complete range will be including five variants, but nothing has been disclosed about the pricing yet.

The mechanical bits of the all-new Mazda incorporate a SkyActiv-G 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a SkyActiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission and i-Activ all-wheel-drive system, delivering the power of 230 PS at 5,000 rpm along with a torque of 420 Nm at 2,000 rpm. In terms of safety, the vehicle is provided with six airbags (front, side, and curtain), ABS-EBD, Traction Control System (TCS), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Hill Launch Assist (HLA), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM).

The interior amenities include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, keyless entry and start, leather upholstery, an electronic parking brake, powered front seats, new switchgear for the climate control, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster display with analog dials adjacent to that and a windscreen-projected head-up display. On the exterior, 19-inch wheels, LED headlamps and taillamps are provided.

The other CX-5 petrol variants offered by the Mazda include 2.0 2WD GL, 2.0 2WD GLS and non-turbo 2.5L 2WD GLS. For now, the offerings of diesel variants have been limited to just the 2.2D 2WD GLS, by dropping the all-wheel-drive category. The automaker has not revealed the specs of all these variants but it can be expected that these may be alike the preceding versions. The turbocharged Mazda CX-5 competes with Honda CR-V in the market and what response it gets from the customers is to be seen now. Bookings for the vehicle are starting from today and a Mazda roadshow is scheduled to take place from 4th to 9th Sep 2019.
