2019 Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo facelift debuts in Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: 2019 Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo, which is an aggressive and sportier version of the regular model has been officially unveiled in Thailand. The newer version of the Fortuner SUV gets an array of goodies and cosmetic upgrades both inside and outside.

From the mechanical point of view, this upcoming TRD Sportivo model still remains faithful to its predecessor. It draws its power from a 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV turbocharged diesel powertrain, which offers a maximum power of 177 PS and generates a peak torque reading around 450 Nm. It is available in both 2WD and 4WD models. The Toyota Racing Development body kit for the Thailand-spec model provides no room for TRD shock absorbers, springs etc.

The 2019 Fortuner TRD Sportivo Thailand-bound model comes with a redesigned front bumper. This is accompanied by a large-sized lower air intake to ensure circulation more freely through the engine which in turn benefits the fuel efficiency rate. The fog light housing is restyled using silver accents. One can spot silver accents around the chin portion of the vehicle as well. The vehicle rides on new 20-inch wheels. The lower portion of the bumper, now painted in black color, portrays a more dynamic and feisty look. The bumper and TRD exhaust design are kept unchanged and resemble that of the previous model, except the black chrome trunk trimming. Other noticeable restyled aspects include the incorporation of a roof and blacked-out side mirrors.

The cabin inside the updated Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo welcomes the passengers with its dynamic and athletic look. Seats and door trims bear red and black color finishing touch. Features like TRD push start button, TRD gauge cluster, TRD floor mats and TRD illuminated door sills are among the major highlights inside. The centre console flaunts carbon fibre trim. On the infotainment front, we have a 7-inch touchscreen digital system, JBL 11-speaker audio system, and an exclusive set of TRD key fobs.

There is no word yet on when the updated Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo will be available in Malaysia, the Philippines, and in other neighbouring countries yet.
