All-new 2022 Honda HR-V to arrive in Thailand soon

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Honda HR-V has been in the news for a while now. Revealed in February this year, the car soon went on sale in Japan and Europe. Now as per Headlightmag, the 3rd gen HR-V is expected to arrive in Thailand by November.

Though Honda Thailand is yet to make an official announcement, the arrival seems to be near, as camouflaged HR-V units were seen in the country. Also, the automaker has started sales personnel training with the new model, further confirming HR-Vs soon launch.

With the 38th edition of the Thailand International Motor Expo scheduled for December, a November launch seems appropriate as the car then can be put on display at the show. Another possibility is Honda launching the car at the expo itself.

What Honda HR-V has on offer?

The Japanese-spec HR-V (known as Vezel) is offered in two engine options. The conventional naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol mill makes a maximum power of 118 PS along with a peak torque of 142 Nm. This mill is coupled with a CVT unit with front and all-wheel-drive available.

Another option is an e:HEV hybrid unit featuring a front e-motor making 131 PS and 253 Nm of torque. Acting as a generator with the aid of an integrated e-motor is 106 PS/127 Nm 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder petrol mill.

Depending on the situation, the car automatically switches between three interchangeable drive modes.

As for the Thai-spec model, the HR-V can be offered with both powertrain options. The hybrid choice will enhance the local hybrid line-up that currently includes - City, Accord, and City Hatchback.

More details about the crossover will be known once the car is officially launched.
