All-new Hyundai Palisade: Key Highlights
It was only a few days ago that Hyundai Malaysia launched the all-new Palisade. The three-row SUV is available as a full-imported model from Ulsan, South Korea, and is offered in two engine options in the country. Now, this all is basic information about the new Hyundai and what we are after is the SUVs’ key highlights. So, let’s get started…
Smart power tailgate

Many cars these days come equipped with powered tailgates but the one in the Palisade is different. Just by standing near the rear-side of the car for 3 seconds with the smart key in possession will open up the tailgate. So no more sweeping the foot under the tailgate, all you need to do is stand. Also, the Palisade allows you to adjust the maximum height to which the tailgate opens. Great, right?
Hands-on air-con system

Hyundai’s three-row SUV features a dual fully-automatic air-conditioning system at the front and independent heating and cooling systems for the second-row seats. Also, the adjustable overhead vents work in tandem with floor vents to help ensure maximum comfort
Sleep Mode System (SMS)

The SMS enables the driver to mute backrest speakers in case passengers at the rear are asleep. The music will only be played through the first-row speakers without disturbing anyone.
Head-Up Display (HUD)

The HUD projects the vehicle’s speed, navigation instructions, current drive mode, and other key data directly on the windshield. In a way, the HUD reduces visual distractions and allows the driver to keep his/her eyes on the road.
Versatile cabin

The Palisade has a highly versatile cabin space it can take in cargo, adults, and kids. The seats can be configured in a variety of ways, thus tackling the demand of the moment. Not to forget, it offers 704-litres of boot space with the third-row seat folded.
Highly capable performer

Be it on-or off-road, the Palisade offers amazing performance, all thanks to the innovative H-TRAC 4-wheel-drive system and Multi-Terrain Control. The latter includes SNOW, MUD, and SAND modes that assure optimal tyre traction over different types of rough. The terrain mode status can be confirmed via the centre cluster or AVN.
A simple push of a button switches between Drive and Terrain modes; via turning the knob, one can select the desired mode - COMFORT, ECO, SPORT, and SMART.
Hyundai SmartSense
Hyundai SmartSense is a cutting-edge technology that keeps the vehicle and everyone inside safe. How? By avoiding dangers and obstacles you don’t see coming. The kit includes - Smart Cruise Control, Lane Forward Assist, High Beam Assist, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Occupant Alert, Safe Exit Alert, Driver Attention Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist.
Other convenient features include - six USB charging ports, a smart one-touch walk-in button, wireless phone charging, driver’s 12-way power seat, rear seat warmers, and integrated memory system. The car also comes with a 7-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster and an 8-inch LCD touch screen with MP3 playback, USB, AUX-in, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Voice Recognition. Also part of the kit are six speakers, steering wheel audio control, and Bluetooth with voice recognition.

Other safety features include - 6 airbags, ABS, ECS, VSM, EBD, TCS, Hill-start Assist Control Trailer Stability Assist, Down Hill Brake Control, Parking Assist System, Power Child Lock, and ISOFIX.
Impressive, isn’t it? Now that we have discussed the key highlights of the Palisade, it’s time to shed light on some of its most obvious elements like engine detail and price.
The Malaysia-spec Palisade is offered in four variants - Luxe 7, Luxe 8, Exec 7, and Exec 8. While the first two are powered by a 3,778 cc GDI V6 mill making 295 PS and 355 Nm of torque, the remaining two are fueled by a 2,199 cc CRDi in-line 4 unit pumping 200 PS and 440 Nm. Both the engine options are paired to an 8-speed automatic E-shift transmission.
As for performance, the Luxe units complete the century sprint in 7.8 seconds, while the Exec models take 10.2 seconds. The top speed is rated at 210 kmph and 190 kmph, respectively.
