BMW debuts G20 3 Series at the 2019 Singapore Motor Show

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW has unveiled the G20 3 Series at the ongoing Singapore Motor Show. The particular model unveiled at the show was the 330i variant, added with M Sport items.

Use of aluminium and high-strength steel at the time of manufacturing has made the G20 BMW 3 Series lighter by 55 kgs. It has a wheelbase of 2,851 mm and is taller than its predecessors, the F30. It now comes with larger kidney-shaped grille at the front that is joined in the middle and linked with the headlamps. The U-shaped DRLs are provided as per requirement in certain markets.

The LED tail lights now come in L-shaped design, which gives it a 3D look. The reflectors at the rear now come merged with the boot lid. The dual exhausts are highlighted with bulges in the lower apron.

The interior dashboard design is carried from the G15 8 Series, G05 X5 Series and G29 Z4 and hence, a similar layout can be seen. The new 3 Series sports a live cockpit look, which includes 10.25-inch centre screen and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. Both screen and the instrument cluster are powered by the all new BMW Operating System 7.0.

Under the hood, the G20 BMW 3 Series comes with new four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines and a six-cylinder diesel. It will have a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit along with high-pressure direct injection technology. Other features, such as lighter crankshaft, optimized heat management, and a new diesel engine management system with Euro 6d-TEMP emission standard norms, are present.

The BMW 330i generates 258 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque and takes about 5.8 seconds to hit an acceleration of 0-100 kmph speed. It has a fuel consumption figure of around 17 kmpl.

The M Sport suspension comes with rigid bearings and additional body struts, firmer springs, and anti-roll bars. The Connectivity functions in the car is updated and includes BMW digital keys, parking assistant and remote Park now services.
