Yes, Xpeng EVs can be considered safe, as the G6, G9, and P7 all grabbed five-star Euro ratings in Euro NCAP crash tests. The agency comprehensively evaluates how well cars protect occupants and road users in crash scenarios. Euro NCAP conducts crash tests and safety assessments and assesses the vehicle’s safety regarding occupant protection, road user safety, and driver assistance systems. Its rating system pushes manufacturers to prioritize safety and help consumers make informed choices.
Speaking about the Xpeng G6, the Chinese-made EV performed very well in the crash tests, thanks to its advanced engineering and manufacturing. It is equipped with China's first front and rear die-casting technology and boasts high torsional stiffness of 41,600 Nm/deg. The said technology combines over 300 parts into two integrated structures and increases stiffness by 83% compared to traditional vehicles and thus boosts impact resistance and weight management.
To protect the battery, the automaker used a three-layer anti-collision structure, eight anti-collision compartments, and pressure resistance of up to 500 kN (50 tonnes), which offers the highest level of protection for the vehicle's power source. The EV also comes packed with seven airbags providing comprehensive safety to all occupants.
Further adding to the G6’s safety quotient are XPILOT safety features, supported by an Nvidia Orin-X processor, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The list includes -
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go
