JAECOO Malaysia opens registration of interest (ROI) for the eagerly awaited J7 SUV, estimate price from RM150k

KUALA LUMPUR: The JAECOO J7, a premium SUV offered by Chery's sub-brand is now open for interest registration starting from 10 April 2024. Interested fans eager to get closer to owning the J7 can express their interest at the JAECOO Premier Experience roadshow at 1Utama Shopping Centre or through the JAECOO Malaysia official website.

Leo Chen, President of JAECOO Malaysia, expressed excitement over the public's enthusiastic response to the J7, especially after two successful roadshows. "We believe JAECOO Malaysia is bringing diversity to the SUV market, especially with the J7 being a strong challenger in the C-segment SUV market, which consumers in Malaysia appreciate. Furthermore, our strategy to deliver a high level of technology advancements, in a premium manner and at a
competitive price point addresses the current need in the market,” Chen remarked.

In light of the heightened anticipation, JAECOO Malaysia has hinted at a starting price below RM165,000 for the J7, available in two variants: the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) at an estimated RM160,000 and the Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) at approximately RM150,000. Prospective buyers can choose from four distinct colors: Moonlight Silver, Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, and Model Green.

Under-the-hood specification is identical to the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro model, comprising of a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The former kicks out a maximum power of 197 hp and a peak torque of 290 Nm, enabling the SUV to hit the century sprint in eight seconds.

The company anticipates starting the delivery of orders by the third quarter of this year, based on the volume of registrations. Additionally, potential customers will have the opportunity to test drive the J7 in May.
