Leaked images of 2021 Nissan X-Trail appear online

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Nissan X-Trail is one of the most anticipated cars of our time. Also, we have heard about it for long. First, there were reports, followed by spy shots and leaked photos. This time around, Nissan’s upcoming crossover images have surfaced on Instagram, and they appear to be press photos. And we see not just the new exterior but the revised interior as well.

These images might be the official leaked photos, as the exterior design language resembles the patent drawings that surfaced a while back. We can see second-gen Juke-like headlights with high-set LED daytime running lights along with bumper-mounted headlights. It also gets the now staple in Nissan cars, the V-motion grille. Even the window design lines up with the patent seen a few weeks back.

The rear features Kick-like taillights, only here they appear to be much wider. The design of the 2021 X-Trail also includes lines and creases on the tailgate, a wide license plate for the long Europen registration tags, and Rouge garnish at the back, which is X-Trail’s North American name.

The inside appears heavily revised over the current model, included in the list are -

• Floating infotainment screen
• Wider dashboard
• Slim air-con vents
• Driver-oriented center stack
• Three-spoke steering wheel with large horn pad
• Revised digital instrument cluster (possibly for the top-spec variants)
• An electro-mechanical gear selector

Information about the engine options remain unknown, and there is a possibility that it might get the current units, but those have been around for a while. Like other automakers, Nissan could also take the downsized-turbo route. Seeing Nissan’s commitment towards electrification, 2021 X-Trail might even get a hybrid or e-Power version.
