Mitsubishi concept truck ‘Triton Absolute’ showcased at 2019 BIMS

KUALA LUMPUR: Mitsubishi has showcased its new concept truck, the Triton Absolute at the ongoing 2019 Bangkok International Motor Show. The concept truck would be displayed at various venues throughout the year, and as per the demand, it might be put into the production.

In a press release, the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) boasted a few catchy phrases about its new pickup truck. It says “The TRITON ABSOLUTE expresses the concept ‘ABSOLUTELY Beyond Tough’ through ‘Build-up Robustness’ based on the ‘Truck Dynamism’ illustrated by ‘More Solid and More Rugged’ design and the TRITON’s ‘Mechanical Durability’.”

The standard 2019 Triton facelift was launched in January at 1 Utama shopping centre. The model is available in five variants and price starts from RM 100,200 to RM 135,200 minus insurance.

The concept truck which has body panels made of carbon fibre also carries the Dynamic Shield face just like standard Triton facelift. The front flaunts three broad red colored strips, which can also be found at the back. One can even notice the fenders that showcase huge gaps and houses 18-inch wheels. The wheels are enfolded with Falken Wildpeak M/T 285/65 tyres. The rear end of the truck features a tailgate with the brand’s name inscribed on it.

This hulk also features LED lights on the roof and thick roof rails come integrated with sports bar. The completely rugged body alongside a high ground clearance makes this truck a highly capable off-road vehicle.

The engine specification of Triton Absolute is not revealed yet. The standard 2019 Triton facelift is powered by a 2.4-litre turbodiesel MIVEC engine that churns out a maximum power of 181 PS and a peak torque of 430 Nm. As of now, it’s unclear whether Triton Absolute will share the same powertrain or will get a better version.
