Proton sold 12,772 units in October 2023; YTD tally reaches 129,604 units

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton has managed to sell a total of 12,772 units (including exports) in the month of October, bringing the year-to-date sales tally to 129,604 cars. The national automaker witnessed a month-on-month growth of 4.4 % over the 12,230 units sold in September 2023. 

With the year-to-date figure almost reaching 130,000, Proton appears to be well on track to surpass last year's record of 141,432 units. The brand is estimated to grab an overall market share of 20.1% in Malaysia this year, compared to 19.6% in 2022.

Proton Edar Chief Executive Officer, Roslan Abdullah said, “Proton has benefited from these market conditions and as our sales have gone up by 12.3% this year, we continue to outpace TIV growth. This is despite some of the recent challenges faced, which were countered by quick and decisive action taken by the company. Heading into the final two months of 2023, we are optimistic of exceeding our targets as we prepare to introduce more new models to position the company for a great start to 2024.”

Proton recently introduced its new sedan, the S70, which is a rebadged version of the Geely Emgrand. It is equipped with the latest safety technology, a 1.5L turbo engine, and a 7-speed DCT transmission. The bookings of the sedan are now underway at all authorised Proton outlets nationwide with the customer preview session scheduled to begin this weekend.
