Proton sold 9,549 EVs in 2025, announces special after-sales benefits
KUALA LUMPUR: Despite a contraction in Total Industry Volume, Proton recorded 3.3% growth in 2025, capturing 19.4% share of the market. The national automaker sold a total of 157,976 units during the year, which includes 9,549 EVs.

Proton e.MAS 7 - Malaysia’s No.1 National EV
Photo from ProtonThe milestone coincides with the first anniversary of the Proton e.MAS 7, which concluded the year as the country’s No.1 EV. Launched in December 2024, the Proton e.MAS 7 has been winning the hearts of consumers with its value-for-money proposition, spaciousness, ride and handling, and onboard technology.
It comes in two variants - Prime and Premium, priced at RM 109,800 and RM 123,800, respectively. Both trims are equipped with a single electric motor generating a maximum power of 218 hp and 320 Nm. Two available battery options are - 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh, offering a WLTP-claimed range of 345 km and 410 km, respectively.
In response to consumer feedback, the EV received new interior and exterior colour options and smarter tech features via over-the-air (OTA) software updates in July 2025.

The e.MAS 7 represented Malaysia across significant national and regional platforms in 2025. It served as the Official Vehicle for the ASEAN Summit 2025, where 61 units were deployed for key delegations and high-ranking officials during the ministerial meetings. The EV also participated in the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 and completed a historic 10,432 km journey across nine ASEAN countries, showcasing its capabilities on a global level.
Proton e.MAS 5 - Malaysia’s No.1 Affordable EV

Designed to make EV ownership accessible to a broader segment of Malaysians across all demographics, the EV has bagged over 14,600 bookings so far. The automaker has started delivering the first batch of the EV, with a phased delivery rollout plan to continue into Q1 2026.
The Proton e.MAS 5 comes in two variants - Prime and Premium, priced at RM 59,800 and RM 72,800, respectively. The entry-level trim is equipped with a 79 PS/130 Nm e-motor and a 30.12 kWh CATL LFP battery pack, offering a range of 225 km. The range-topping version, on the other hand, features a 116 PS/150 Nm motor and a bigger 40.16 kWh battery pack, enabling the EV to cruise up to 325 km on a single charge.
Proton e.MAS customer after-sales benefits
To commemorate this milestone, the national automaker has announced special after-sales benefits for all its EV owners. Starting January 1 2026, all Proton e.MAS owners sending their cars for maintenance or servicing will enjoy a free car wash (at selected service centres) and free charging up to 80% (depending on customer availability).
