Toyota Corolla Altis gets Nurburgring accessory kit in Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota Thailand has introduced a new Nurburgring accessory kit for the Corolla Altis. The said package consists of some 'performance' upgrades along with a body kit. As per the automaker, it will be offered for free for most of the variants starting October 1.

Can you trace back a connection? Well, the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team Thailand took a class victory with a tuned Corolla Altis at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. And the team won not just once but twice, 2020 and 2021.

Let us check out the Corolla Altis Nurburgring package, starting with the body kit. As expected it bears a striking resemblance to the race car especially with elements like - twin 'nostrils' beneath the upper grills, fake rear air vents, split lower grille, and a large rear diffuser. Also part of the kit is a boot lid spoiler, deep front, side and rear skirting, and Nurburgring badge for the front fender. It misses out in the massive wing and widebody kit.

Coming to the performance-enhancing bits, the Corolla Altis Nurburgring package gets an 'accelerator control box' and lowering spring, said to improve throttle response.

Price? The Corolla Altis Nurburgring package is apparently worth 42,000 baht, but it's offered for free together with 31,000 baht worth of motor insurance.

The Nurburgring package is offered with both 1.8 Sport and all hybrid models. The regular model is powered by a 1.8-litre petrol mill making a maximum power output of 140 PS at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 177 Nm at 4,000 rpm. This one is paired with a CVT. The hybrid version gets an Atkinson-cycle unit making 98 PS at 5,200 rpm and 142 Nm at 3,600 rpm. It is paired to a 72 PS/122 Nm e-motor for a total system output of 122 PS.
