1 million Nissan crossover sold in the UK

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, you read it just right. From 2017, Nissan had sold one million crossovers in the UK. The automaker's UK lineup includes the following cross models - X-Trail, Juke, and Qashaqi.

What's more surprising is the fact that not less than 93 % of the one million Nissan cars sold in the UK were manufactured in the country itself, at the automaker's Sunderland factory. Summing up, over the past 14 years, a total of 932,938 Nissan cars found a home in Britain.

Let's now discuss each of these cars in detail, starting with Qashqai. Introduced in 2017, it has entered its third-gen with the new model rolling out of the Sunderland factory later this year. Nissan has sold over 620,000 Qashqai models in the UK with its second-gen model proving a big hit.

Wait there more about the Qashqai? It has been featured on the UK's top best-selling cars list for quite a while now and there's no other car in the country to be produced in such great numbers.

Nissan Juke was introduced in the UK in 2010 and since then has sold over 310,000 units. Like the Qashqais, it is also manufactured at the company's Sunderland factory.

The X-Trail is the biggest car in Nissan's crossover range. Unlike the Juke and Qashqai, it is manufactured in Japan. It is important to note that Nissan UK has only included the third-gen X-Trail in its one million units counting. Probably because the previous X-Trail models seemed more off-road focused rather than crossovers.

On a slightly related note, the Nissan UK crossover line-up will soon be benefiting from new additions. In the form of an all-new Ariya electric crossover and new Qashqai with hybrid power. The former would be built on the new CMF-EV platform (an output of the Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi alliance).
