2019 Thai Motor Expo: 2020 Nissan Almera showcased

KUALA LUMPUR: After revealing the 2020 Nissan Almera earlier this month, the Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer has pulled the cover of its B-segment sedan at the ongoing 2019 Thai Motor Expo, which has started today and will be concluded on December 10th.

Design-wise, the 2020 Nissan Almera gets a more dynamic-looking shape. It features the brand’s trademark V-Motion front end with the strong LED signature lights, which are also present at the back. The styling cues are also sharper comparing to the predecessor, while the car still retains the compact sedan like shape. There is a visual connection between the side daylight opening and the rear screen. This helps to bisect the C pillars.

Inside the 2020 Almera is a new “Gliding Wing” dashboard. There is a smooth part-digital meter panel that contains an analogue speedo and a digital tacho and a multi-info display of seven-inch. Furthermore, it is coupled with an eight-inch touchscreen display, which has Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Speaking of the mechanical department, the sedan ditches the previous 1.2-litre engine to get a 1.0-litre three-cylinder DOHC turbo unit. It can make a maximum power of 100 hp, while the peak torque is at 152 Nm. The engine is mated to an Xtronic CVT gearbox and supports front-wheel drive.

All-new Nissan Almera has five different trim levels in Thailand S, E, EL, V, and VL. The ‘S’ being the base variant comes with some basic features like dual airbags, HSA (Hill Start Assist) and VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control). It is priced at 499,000 baht (RM 68,603).

On the other hand, three steps up are the range leading Almera VL. It has six airbags, LED fog lamps, RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert), and blind-spot warning. It comes with a price tag of 639,000 baht, which is equivalent to RM 87,851 in Malaysian currency.
